The light engine is built of cast aluminum with a polyester black powder coat to provide protection and durability for many, many years. The heat sink was designed to manage the pcb thermal properties giving the light optimal performance by managing the heat transfer through the heat sink. Creating a heat sink is one thing, but weight management is just as important and the light has been designed with that mind without jeopardizing strength and performance.
