Important Fitment Notes — Read Before Installing

  • 2WD models (this kit is for 4x4 only)

⚠ Shock Note: This kit includes a new shock tower mount that is shorter than the factory mount to compensate for the leveling lift. Stock-length shocks are compatible and do not need to be replaced.


Kit Includes

  • 2 x Coil spring spacers
  • 2 x Shock tower mounts (shorter height, replaces OEM)
  • 6 x 7/16" lock nuts
  • 6 x 7/16" washers

Safety

To ensure safety while installing suspension products, always wear safety glasses and use the correct tools.


Required Tools

  • Floor jack and jack stands
  • Torque wrench
  • 15mm wrench (upper shock mount nuts)
  • 18mm wrench/socket (upper shock stud, lower shock reinstall)
  • 21mm wrench/socket (lower shock bolt removal)
  • Wheel chocks
  • Safety glasses and gloves

Installation Steps

Step 1 — Raise the Vehicle and Support on Jack Stands

Chock the rear wheels and jack up the front of the vehicle. Place jack stands behind the lower control arm mounts on the frame rails. Once the vehicle is on jack stands, position a floor jack under the front differential to support the axle and allow the front axle to droop to remove the stock coil springs.

Step 2 — Remove the Upper Shock Mount Nuts

Remove the three upper nuts on top of the coil spring seat securing the upper shock mount to the coil seat using a 15mm wrench. Access to the rear bolts can be obtained from the engine compartment.

Step 3 — Remove the Upper Shock Stud

Remove the upper shock stud from the shock mount using an 18mm wrench/socket. Retain the stock bushings and hardware for reuse.

Step 4 — Remove the Lower Shock Bolt

Use a 21mm wrench/socket to remove the lower shock bolt. Retain the hardware for reuse. Remove the shock and shock tower from the vehicle. Shocks are removed by pulling them up through the engine compartment.

Step 5 — Lower the Axle and Remove the Coil Spring

Lower the axle with the floor jack and remove the stock coil spring, coil isolator, and shock tower stud ring. Remove the stud ring, as it will not be used with the new coil spacer.

⚠ Note: Depending on the leveling kit size, it may be necessary to remove the upper sway bar link bolts on both sides to allow the axle to drop further, creating enough clearance to fit the leveling spacer on top of the coil spring. Retain all hardware for reinstallation.

Step 6 — Install the Coil Spacer Assembly and New Shock Tower Mount

Install the coil spacer assembly into the coil pocket. Install the new Apoc Industries shock tower mount — it is shorter than the factory mount and is designed to compensate for the leveling lift, maintaining correct shock geometry with stock-length shocks. Tighten with the supplied 7/16" lock nuts. Torque to 49 ft-lbs.

Step 7 — Install Shocks

This kit includes a replacement shock tower mount that is shorter than the OEM mount, designed to work with your stock-length shocks. No longer shocks are required. Reinstall your existing shocks (or new stock-length replacements) using the factory hardware/bushings. At this point, only tighten the hardware on the top.

Step 8 — Reinstall the Coil Spring

After the shocks are reinstalled, slide the coil over the shock and into the reused factory coil isolator. Ensure that the axle is at full drop to allow for installation. If the upper sway bar link bolts were removed in Step 5, reinstall them now.

Step 9 — Reinstall the Lower Shock Eye

Reinstall the lower eye of the shock in the factory location using the factory hardware. Use an 18mm wrench and socket and torque to 100 ft-lbs. Repeat these steps for the passenger side of the vehicle.

Step 10 — Final Inspection

Double-check each step to make sure it has been done correctly and recheck the torque on all fasteners.


Torque Specifications

Fastener Torque (ft-lbs)
Shock tower lock nuts (7/16") 49 ft-lbs
Upper shock stem nut 40 ft-lbs
Lower shock bolt 100 ft-lbs

Torque lug nuts in a star pattern. Recheck torque on all fasteners after final inspection.


Post-Installation Instructions

  • After driving for 500 miles, re-torque all fasteners and inspect the components visually. Re-torque during routine vehicle service.
  • Adjust the headlights to their proper settings.
  • Have the vehicle aligned to factory specifications after installation.
  • Before driving, visually inspect all components to ensure they are functioning properly.
